Penalities for Violation of Information Technology Policies

In the event of a violation of any Information Technology policy by any Highline College user, the user will be given a written warning outlining the details of the violation and the relevant policy or policies, emailed to their Highline College email address.  In some circumstances, the student will also be given a verbal and/or a hard copy delivered in person or to their address of record.

In the event of a serious or repeated violation by a Highline College student, the student will have their myHighline account suspended for up to one week.  The violation will be reported to the Student Judicial Affairs office and the student may be summoned to appear before an initial disciplinary hearing in accordance with WAC 132I-125. Disciplinary action may include but is not limited to suspension of a student’s user account and revocation of student rights in Academic Technology facilities for the duration of the current quarter or longer, depending on the severity of the offense.

In the event of a serious or repeated violation by a Highline College employee, the violation will be reported to Human Resources and the appriopriate Vice President for review and potential disciplinary action.

In the event of a serious or repeated violation on the part of persons other than Highline College students or employees, a written warning from the Executive Director of Information Technology Services will be issued. The warning may include temporary or permanent revocation of all Academic Technology privileges and/or a ban by the Executive Director of Information Technology Services and the campus Office of Public Safety from use of any ITS facilities.
