ITS announces the availability of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Google Gemini for Workspaces to faculty, staff, and students. These two Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools are included in Highline’s licensing contracts with Google and Microsoft.
Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini are integrated into their respective productivity suites (Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace) making it easier for users to access and utilize information effectively, while providing institutional data protections. These tools are designed to generate content, enhance creativity, provide insights, summarize, improve collaboration, and help streamline tasks.
Microsoft Copilot integrates with tools like Word, Excel, and Outlook, allowing users to ask complex questions or generate content based on their documents. For example, it can summarize a lengthy report, generate insights from data in spreadsheets, or help draft emails by pulling relevant information from previous correspondence.
Google Gemini for Workspaces provides similar capabilities within Google Docs, Sheets, and other applications. It can analyze data, generate content based on prompts, and suggest improvements or edits, all while referencing the user’s existing documents and data.
While Copilot and Gemini will provide data protection when used with your Highline credentials, it is still important to not include any confidential or sensitive information, including personally identifiable information (PII) about students when using CoPilot and Gemini.
Additional information on how to login into CoPilot and Gemini and use the tools is provided here. If you need additional assistance, please contact the Help Desk by email helpdesk@highline.edu; telephone ext. 4357 (206) 592-4357; or helpdesk.highline.edu.
