This is a Friday morning update on the security incident at Instructure, which operates Canvas.
Canvas has reported to us that their systems are restored, but we have limited access while we verify several things and make some security updates.
- Do not attempt to log into Canvas until you hear directly from Highline College.
Additionally, we have heard from at least one student that they have received messages threatening to release their personal data if they do not pay a ransom.
- Please be alert to unexpected emails, text messages, or phone calls that ask for personal information or that direct you to log in.
- If you receive a message that looks suspicious, do not respond, do not click links in it; report the message to helpdesk@highline.edu.
No other systems that Highline College uses are experiencing a cyber incident.
We will share an update on when Canvas may be available to Highline users by 9am.
