Guide to Student Technology Requests

The ITS Help Desk has Chromebooks, Windows laptops, and Wacom tablets available for students to check out each quarter. This guide will explain the rules and process of submitting a request.

All students using Highline equipment must agree to abide by the Computing Resources Appropriate Use Policy (#6010).

Rules and Procedures

These devices are reserved for actively enrolled students. Active enrollment does not include fulfilling an incomplete grade from a previous term.  Students must be registered for classes prior to requesting a device.

All devices must be returned to the Help Desk by the end of the quarter to be updated and refreshed for the next quarter.

  • For those students with devices checked out from the previous quarter, you must return your equipment before submitting a new request. If you return your device and you remain enrolled, you may request another loan for the new quarter.
  • Should you withdraw or be dropped from all your courses, loaned devices will be due back to Highline College immediately so they can be made available for other students.

Overdue/Lost/Stolen/Damaged Devices

Devices which are not returned by the end of the current quarter will incur lost item fines and may result in registration blocks.

Talk to the ITS Help Desk right away if equipment is stolen, damaged, or having technical problems.

Equipment Options

All checkout equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Chromebook
    • Chromebooks are the default computer devices provided for checkout. They are loaned for the current quarter and are due back at the end of the quarter.
  • Windows Laptop
    • Laptops are loaned for the current quarter and are due back at the end of the quarter.
  • Wacom Tablet (for digital illustration)
    • Wacom Tablets are loaned on a weekly basis during the current quarter.

Request Form

To request a device, fill out the Student Technology Request Form.  Your request will be automatically emailed to the ITS Help Desk.

When a device is available, you will be sent an invitation to select the date and time for your pick-up appointment at the ITS Help Desk, located in Building 30.

Returning Checked-Out Equipment

ITS is requesting all students to return checked-out computer devices at the end of every quarter, even if you intend to request equipment for the next quarter.  The computer devices must be updated and will be made available to loan out again to students.

Return equipment before the due date directly to the ITS Help Desk, located in Building 30.

Please note that due to high rates of equipment not being returned when due, the college may apply lost fines up to $500 (depending on device type) and block your ability to register for classes.
