Highline Students–
We are writing to share information about a major change in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for accessing your college accounts and programs. Okta is ending text messaging and voice authentication as an MFA option. If you use either as your only MFA option for Highline’s Okta you must set up a new one.
We recommend that everyone set up 2 methods in order to provide flexibility and a backup option in case one option does fail. Our primary recommendation is the Okta Verify app. We are currently working on updates to our documentation, but anyone can download Okta Verify from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store at any time and set it up following these installation instructions.
We also recommend other standard One Time Password (OTP) apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. All of these apps are free to download and install. If you need assistance with setting up any of these apps, or need assistance with alternatives, please drop by the Help Desk in Building 30, call us at 206-592-4357, or email helpdesk@highline.edu.
We will be reaching out directly to students who have used text or voice in the last 3 months to let them know that these are no longer viable options. Additional support will be provided as students return to campus for fall quarter.
Thanks for your understanding and support through this change.
