myHighline Account Guide

Highline Community College has developed a single login for students, standardizing how you can access most computer resources. This login will be referred to as the myHighline login.

Why do I have a myHighline account?

Our goal is to give you a single, standardized login to campus computer resources and help eliminate previous login confusion.

All students are required to create a myHighline account. Your MyHighline username and password will be used to login to Highline computing resources such as:

IMPORTANT

When using Highline’s computing resources, you are responsible for your online activity. Activating your myHighline account indicates compliance with Highline’s Computer Resources Appropriate Use Policy (AUP) (see ‘Information Technology (6000s)‘)

Activating your myHighline Account

Note: CWU and Kaplan students follow these activation steps.

Before You Start:

  • Activation only takes a few minutes from any computer with access to the internet. If you are on campus, you can use kiosks available in Buildings 6, 29, 30 and the Library (see the campus map).
  • You need an activation code
    • Your activation code is sent in your welcome letter from Admissions. This is a one-time use code which helps us verify your identity.
    • If you did not receive an activation code, please contact the IT Help Desk for further assistance. For verification purposes, please provide your Student ID number and full mailing address as it is on file with the college.
    • ABE/ESOL and Community Education students should contact their instructor or department to receive their activation code.
  • You will create your username and password and answer a few security questions. Your username will become your email address. Your username cannot be changed, so please use care when selecting it.
    • This is how you will represent yourself to instructors and fellow students. It also might be how potential employers contact you.
    • Select a username that helps people know who you are, and represents you in a professional way.
    • Don’t include confidential personal information in your username.

How to use your myHighline Activation Code:

Optional: Read a step-by-step MyHighline Activation tutorial here. There is also a link to a video tutorial.

  1. Go to myinfo.highline.edu/activate
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen. You will be asked to provide your activation code and other identifying information

Security and Highline Student Accounts

Your Highline Student account is your gateway to interacting with Highline in an official capacity.

It is used to log in to online coursework in Canvas, communicate with teachers and college departments, and will be your Financial Aid Disbursement Portal login.

With all of the things your account has access to it is important to guard your Highline Student account as you would your most important accounts, such as a bank account login.

Here are some tips to protect yourself:

  1. NEVER give your account name and password combination to anyone; our Highline College staff are able to help you without this information, and we will not ask for it.
  2. NEVER include personally identifiable information (passwords, social security numbers, credit card numbers, etc) in an email – even an email sent to an employee at Highline College.
  3. If you have any questions about your account(s), contact someone at Highline College directly. Do not rely on links provided in emails to provide accurate contact information or third party service providers.
  4. Use Multi-Factor Authentication methods to protect your account.
  5. If you believe that your student account from Highline College has been compromised, reset your password immediately at myinfo.highline.edu and contact the IT HelpDesk to let us know.
